If ever a woman loved a man,
Then my soul lived for we two.
If ever a heart beat had a plan,
Then mine was born to beat for you.
If ever I thought I could have saved
A love that only comes one time
Then I would have stayed and waved
Away the doomday clock's last chime.
If ever I thought an ache remained inside
Despite all of my tries,
I would have swallowed all my pride
And digested all your lies.
I think of you so many nights
As I lay alone in bed.
Am I really better out of sight
While you lay with her instead?
Did I give up way too soon?
Did I walk away too fast?
I hear of all your rush to ruin,
And I know I'm in your past.
A flash, a sight of you still drops
My ragged heart down to it's knees.
Pass by, don't look, don't stop,
Don't remember anything, o please.
Your foot is in a different shoe,
We cannot turn around.
We cannot change the old to new
Or bless unholy ground.
My chronic heartache still remains,
Damn thing will not recover.
You'll always be my deepest pain,
My soul's lost golden lover.

Breaks my heart to know that love is hard to get when we are over 7 billion of beings with a heart beat. This one is deep and can touch my whole sensitivity. voted up EXOTICHQ

If ever a tear that I cried made any sense at all, it is now. Beautifully sad love can be. How much pain is forged in the loneliness apart. Oceans have waves, my heart bears the pain.

Beautifully expressed, I to loved deeply and lost. My heart was broken and it's now been 13 years and still can't fall in love again, I don't think I ever will. This poet goes to his grave with a broken heart. Yet I have memories to fall back on, I loved very intensely in my life-time, at least I felt and breathed love for a spell.
This is beautiful and heartbreaking. I have felt this.. you have captured these feelings wonderfully. If you are still feeling this way, I pray your heart heals soon. Much love!
Great poem Queen : It's so real, to sense that changing reality that is sweeping humanity, living with lies, cheating and deceit. But I am not at all surprised. When the Bible said that man should be lovers of themselves more than lovers of who created them their ultimate father.
I had already gone through my thought process on that topic, relationship. I was a very young boy and it was already happening around me , I thought that this thing Love was actually dying . My rationale before even starting to date, was, and I told my friend if I could only go to Biafra and save a few starving people, my age, they will have love and appreciation and gratitude.
I told him why did God not make us with this lite bulb growing in the middle of our foreheads , one that will only light up when your true sole mate shows up.
The worry of relationships ,eats away at the realities of sincere living. A person can forget his dreams in life searching for love, and that's the opposite of what was meant.
I have grown to understand and know that true love would always find you.Don't fight to find it .
See the good in this. I believe whatever one looks for they shall find .

I did not do that but I went on to learn the realities of relationships in life.
Now I wish I was born with this same understanding that I have.

Thank you, Sue. You know how it is with us writers. I watched a movie called Fireproof which was very timely at the time of my divorce. That is what started this poem. That night I was up late writing this poem, because we always have to pour our guts out for everyone to read. I guess that's what makes us different from everyone else, who usually like to keep their innermost feelings private. As you can see, it still hurts, almost 3 years later. I appreciate your comment...........

In these times so many people have build walls around themselves and not everyone can love so deeply and care so much about someone. I wish I could fall in love again, feels like my heart has become mechanical. Beautiful poem btw, hope you find peace in whatever you are looking for.
