Cha-Cha Boom Boom for the Tin Man

Turn around……………………watch yourself disappear into the mirror

……………………into another mirror

………………………………………………another

……………………………………………………and another.

Was that you?

I couldn’t see.

Reach out and feel for your touchstone.

~I T ‘ S    G O N E~

Instead

Now

Live in this delusional, alternate world of your own creation,

Deliberately patched together with remnants of yesterday

To create the new abnormal,

Where language speaks a foreign tongue

That licks away the crumbs

Lingering at the corners of impoverished lips

From which nothing escapes without express permission.

Cha -cha ting-a-ling,

Cha-cha boom-boom.

Make love to the Scorpions,

Little, just the way you like them.

Allow them to rule such a tattered world

Inside the house of many rooms.

Surrender to the new reality of a distorted today

Observed from the dark of a strangely tormented soul

Where only a minimal, diminished existence is possible.

Artificial implant languishes in a ganja haze,

So far removed from previous excellence.

Cha-cha ting-a-ling

Cha-cha boom-boom.

Fishing >fishing >fishing

But pointlessly,

To banish the protracted vigil

In garaged comfort,

Train wreck in a lawn chair,

Observing nothing but Time as it drives by,

If it ever drives by,

Or it never stops driving by?

Waiting.

Cha-cha ting-a-ling

Cha-cha boom-boom.

Slide in and tend the new young garden,

Such immense comfort,

When weeding the old brings so much guilt.

Dream a small dream of

Escape to southern –minded destinations.

Refuse to turn and catch a glimpse of the

Mirage disappearing into the glass:

*****No Man in the Mirror*****

Tin Man looking for a heart,

Needs a new start.

Was that you?

 I couldn’t see.

Cha-cha ting-a-ling,

Cha-cha boom-boom.

Your life, long and low, like a Corvette,

But without the respect.

Minimalist

With the Soul of a hoarder,

Always running South of the Border

Always flying under the radar.

Always trying to fade the scar.

Cha-cha ting-a-ling

 Ch-cha boom boom.

No pain to recall past pages in The Book?

Chapters Before through Yesterday,

Skip through Key Pages.

It didn’t happen,

It wasn’t real.

Refer to Instruction Manual for the Lost,

Closely related to and on the same shelf as

Instruction Manual for the Dead.

Dream your Lost Dreams for eternity.

You will never be free.

Cha-cha ting-a-ling

Cha-cha boom-boom.

I found experimentation with form and content extreme, but I loved it very much.

Binaya, I'm very happy that you enjoyed it, and am also happy that you found it extreme, though it was not written to be, but just what is. Everything in this poem has a meaning and is personal to someone that has been in my life and whom I know very well. Therefore, it makes perfect sense to me. If you are interested in knowing more about it, message me. Thank you for reading it and commenting. I enjoy feedback, as we all do.

Make love to the scorpions - sounds a little painful.

Fishing in a lawn chair, right up my alley. Well, at least the alley of my profile image.

I'm tellin' ya, Phil. It would make sense to you if you know why I said that..........(scorpions). (; Thanks for commenting. Stop by again anytime. I'll put some coffee on, or maybe even better, a cold beer.

Hmmm.. I don't drink coffee or beer. How about ice cream? The weather is warm enough to warrant it.

Don't mind them EHQ, after all, they still think poetry has to rhyme.I'm going to say this was a very disapointing husband or Father? No matter, it was worth the read.... thank you.... lily

You make me chuckle, lilyfly........to be extreme to me is a compliment. I never want to be boring or predictable.

PenMePretty 10 months ago

I have been casually reading your poetry and I fell upon this one. This poems makes me think and possibly has changed my mind about some things. It is what poetry should be. This was an extremely good read.

I can't thank you enough for taking the time to read through a few of my things. While I write for my own personal pleasure and satisfaction, I do tremendously enjoy it when another person finds pleasure in what has spewed forth form my brain/soul............
